SEMBAWANG, Republic of Singapore – U.S., United Kingdom, and Australian servicemembers participating in Pacific Partnership 2018 (PP18) aboard Military Sealift Command expeditionary fast transport USNS Brunswick (T-EPF 6), departed Singapore May 14, bound for Sattahip, Thailand for the fourth PP18 mission stop.
Pacific Partnership, now in its 13th iteration, is the largest annual multilateral humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) preparedness mission conducted in the Indo-Pacific. PP18’s objective is to enhance regional coordination in areas such as medical readiness and preparedness for man-made and natural disasters.
Brunswick and Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH 19) are conducting visits to different Indo-Pacific nations during the course of PP18, increasing the reach and scope of PP18 participants and host nation counterparts to conduct technical expertise exchanges in medical, engineering, and HADR. Additionally, key leader and community engagement events will allow for direct engagement with local citizens and enhanced relationships with partner nation military and government leadership.
In addition to conducting a logistical resupply, PP18 personnel aboard Brunswick visited the Changi Regional Humanitarian Assistance / Disaster Response Coordination Center and hosted an official function for Commander, U.S. 7th Fleet.
“Singapore was a fantastic opportunity to implement some of our lessons learned from the previous mission stops into our training scenarios, and to get ready for the next mission stops,” said Royal Navy Capt. Peter Olive, Deputy Mission Commander of Pacific Partnership 2018. “We’re grateful to Singapore for their warm welcome and hospitality.”
Pacific Partnership 2018 consists of more than 500 U.S. military personnel stationed worldwide, working side-by-side with host nation counterparts to be better prepared for potential humanitarian aid and disaster response situations.
