JALALABAD AIR FIELD, Afghanistan – Five U.S. congressmen visited Forward Operating Base Fenty in Jalalabad, Afghanistan, Dec. 15 to meet with Soldiers and receive a brief on the current situation in northeastern Afghanistan.
Rep. Gary Ackerman, D-N.Y.; Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C.; Rep. Brian Higgins D-N.Y.; Rep. Ron Klein, D-Fla.; and Rep. Jeff Flake, R-Ariz., attended a series of briefings given by Task Force Duke, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division Soldiers and the Nangarhar Provincial Reconstruction Team. The brief was focused on military operations, progress on reconstruction and efforts to train the Afghan security forces.
Shortly following a question and answer session the delegation took the opportunity to sit and eat with Soldiers from their respective states.
The overall visit lasted about three hours before the delegation departed from FOB Fenty in route to Bagram Airfield.
