Sailors from the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 11 and soldiers from the 107th Engineer Battalion and the 616th Engineer Utilities Detachment combined their efforts Saturday, June 2, 2018 and began to construct a variety of buildings at Land Forces Training Center Drawsko, Poland.
The construction comes in support of Resolute Castle 18, a supporting mission to Operation Atlantic Resolve. Resolute Castle is a multinational training exercise for NATO and U.S. Army engineers, which supports Atlantic Resolve by promoting interoperability.
The joint services’ efforts have proven to be very useful for the soldiers of the 616th.
Several members of the 616th, reclassified from artillery to engineering. For roughly half of them, this is a very unique Annual Training.
“I was artillery for about 13 years.” said Army Sgt. Cyle Roos, an interior electrician for the 616th EUD. “Digging dirt, playing with electrical wires and at times, even plumbing is a lot different than blowing stuff up.”
For soldiers like Roos, the sailors from the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 11, offer a new, seasoned perspective for the 616th EUD.
“It seems they do a lot of this regularly, so for our guys who aren’t too familiar with engineering and construction, they’ve been a great asset for pointing things out to us,” added Roos.
