The opening ceremony signified the start of the eighth iteration of a long-standing U.S. Army Europe-led cooperative training exercise.
“This exercise is very important to prepare a strong army,” said Brig. Gen. Jarosław Gromadziński, commander of Poland’s 15th Mechanized Brigade. “We are one team with one mission, standing strong together to protect the nation and our allies.”
This year’s key exercise objective will be training and exercising with Battle Group Poland. Saber Strike 18 will focus on promoting interoperability with allies and regional partners as well as improving joint operational capability across a variety of mission sets.
“We are a ready and capable force working with the 15th Mechanized Brigade,” said Lt. Col. Adam Lackey, commander of Battle Group Poland. “This exercise will demonstrate that Battle Group Poland is capable and credible to deter and defend.”
Battle Group Poland is a unique, multinational battle group, comprised of U.S., U.K., Croatian and Romanian Soldiers who serve with the Polish 15th Mechanized Brigade as a defense and deterrence force in northeast Poland in support of NATO’s Enhanced Forward Presence.
