MUNIZ AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Puerto Rico -- Innovation, efficiency and strength are elements present in units that lead and excel. The 156th Airlift Wing is an example of such, as it paves a new road towards the future, by breaking ground on a state of the art Composite Support Facility at Muñiz Air National Guard Base, June 7.
The original CSF was structurally damaged during Hurricane Maria, forcing the 156th Medical Group and 156th Force Support Squadron to relocate to temporary facilities on the base. The remodeling of the building, initially constructed in 1964, is expected to be completed by June 2019 at an estimated cost of $5.4 million. The 20,750 square foot structure will serve as a valuable resource in maintaining our workforce healthy, ready and vigilant.
“This modern medical facility with adjoining state of the art kitchen and dining spaces will benefit the 156th AW and the Puerto Rico Air National Guard.” said Col. Raymond Figueroa, 156th AW commander. “My mission priorities are to Develop, Deliver and Deploy American Airmen. By being able to provide medical care to our personnel and an improved dining experience, this facility helps us accomplish that.”
Completion of the remodeling will allow the Medical Group and Force Support Squadron to return to their respective work areas and continue providing the PRANG with efficient, reliable medical care and dining services.
“This investment demonstrates a dedication and commitment to our most important resource, our Airmen” said Figueroa. “I’m excited to think of all the thousands of servicemembers this facility will serve in the years to come. The future is bright indeed.”
