CAMP BONDSTEEL, Kosovo — Maj. Gen. John Gronski, Deputy Commanding General, Army National Guard, United States Army Europe, spent a day greeting, mentoring and thanking the Soldiers supporting Multi-National Battle Group – East (MNBG-E), June 5. His visit included a "Strong Army - Europe" briefing, which highlighted the importance of the Army's mission here in Kosovo to the leaders of Multi-National Battle Group - East.

“I want to thank you all for being on this deployment, doing what you’re doing,” said Gronski, “You all being here puts a lid on the violence that could erupt here without NATO presence.”

Maj. Gen. Grosnki’s visit to Camp Bondsteel included meeting with Soldiers across the Camp Bondsteel operational footprint. Gronski greeted members of the 702nd Ordnance Company – EOD, the Medical Task Force, and Medical Evacuation and Aviation teams supporting the MNBG-E mission here.

He shook hands with every Soldier he met, asked where they were from, and thanked them each for their presence in Kosovo. Gronski shared with some Soldiers stories of his military experiences. He took the time to address and advise Soldiers struggling with meeting the Army standard. Gronski questioned leaders about the care their Soldiers are receiving at Camp Bondsteel and asked how he might help support the MNBG-E mission.

Gen. Gronski awarded several Soldiers coins for their achievements here in Kosovo, questioning leaders about each Soldier he awarded. His visit culminated with a dinner which was attended by MNBG-E junior enlisted Soldiers.

“Visits like Maj. Gen. Gronski’s help bring to light and expedite solutions to some of the issues Soldiers face here in Kosovo,” said Sgt. 1st Class William Schamber, an EOD team leader with the 702nd Ordnance Company.

The Soldiers of Kosovo Force's (KFOR) MNBG-E are deployed to Kosovo on a nine-month peace and stability operation and are tasked to contribute to a safe and secure environment and freedom of movement in Kosovo.
