Explosive Ordnance Disposal Mobile Unit (EODMU) 5 and their family and friends participated in the second annual EOD Warrior run-walk 5K at Naval Base Guam June 29, 2018.
“This is a great event to come together and honor the sacrifices of those who came before us,” Cmdr. Mike Tollison. “It was a good opportunity to reflect, and we look forward to holding it again next year.”
Before the race began, the 70 participants observed a moment of silence to remember the heroes that served the nation as EOD specialists that lost their lives while in the line of duty.
The 5K was organized by the EODMU 5 Family Readiness Group and concluded the morning with a smoothie breakfast after the race.
“This was a nice opportunity to come together as a community and honor those before us,” said Randi Kristoffersen, the EODMU 5 Ombudsman. “We were able to raise $2,560 dollars for the EOD Warrior Foundation (EODWF)!”
The EODWF serves the EOD community by providing financial assistance and support to active-duty and veteran wounded, injured or ill EOD warriors, families of our wounded and fallen EOD warriors and by maintaining the EOD Memorial.
