PORT HUENEME, Calif.—Naval Surface Warfare Center, Port Hueneme Division (NSWC PHD) Senior System Engineer, Ashley Holloway, has been selected as a 2018 Technology Rising Star, Women of Color in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) Outstanding Achievement Award, to be presented at the 23rd Women of Color magazine’s annual STEM conference, being held October 11-13, in Detroit, Michigan.
Holloway is being recognized as a Technology Rising Star for “helping to shape technology for the future.”
According to the magazine, the conference is “the forum of choice to recognize the significant contributions of women in STEM fields and attract and leverage talent in America’s scientific and technical workforce.”
Holloway currently serves as system engineering technical lead for the enterprise Product Lifecycle Management Integrated Decision Environment (ePLM IDE) in the Product Support Office. The ePLM IDE program is an enterprise information technology system the employs Product Lifecycle Management technologies in an Integrated Decision Environment and is a foundational element of the Navy’s Digital Transformation strategy.
As technical lead she is responsible for all aspects of the program’s software systems engineering management to include planning, budgeting, organizing, coordinating and tracking all technical tasks in support of the development, implementation and lifecycle support for this critical capability. Her contributions to the ePLM IDE program include cloud hosting; collaboration and partnership with other Warfare Centers, Department of Defense programs, and Navy systems commands; project management; and improving customer service and program support.

Dave Lockney. “She is an indispensable asset to our Command and an outstanding role model for not only the women in the workforce, but all aspiring leaders. Mrs. Holloway is deserving of this prestigious award that recognizes women of color who have achieved significant leadership roles and set the pace for the honor, courage, and commitment expected from all the men and women in our workplace."
Over her 20-year career, she has gained experience at various levels within the information technology profession in both the public and private sectors. She has held positions as software test engineer, software developer, quality assurance analyst, senior systems analyst, and technical project manager. She received a Bachelor of Science in computer science from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University; and a Master of Science in information systems management from Loyola University Chicago, Graduate School of Business.
