PENSACOLA, Fla. (NNS) –Navy Medicine Operational Training Center (NMOTC) held a change of command ceremony at the National Naval Aviation Museum aboard Naval Air Station Pensacola July 10.

Capt. Theron C. Toole relieved Capt. Mark M. Goto as commanding officer during a ceremony that included a retirement observance for Goto.

“Capt. Goto, under your leadership NMOTC has excelled in mission accomplishment and led from the front on several strategic initiatives for Navy Medicine,” said Rear Adm. Rebecca McCormick-Boyle, Commander, Navy Medicine Education, Training and Logistics Command (NMETLC) and presiding officer for the ceremony. “I am grateful to you for your service and for your tremendous leadership as NMOTC’s commanding officer.”

Goto used his time to speak to wish the command was well prepared for the future.

“As I say farewell to you, like a parent saying goodbye to their child, I want to make sure you have enough gas in your tank and an extra twenty dollars in your wallet,” said Goto. “In the end, you’ll find your way and do even greater things.”

Toole humbly read his orders and expressed his gratitude as the new commanding officer.

“I’m thrilled to be here and I look forward to serving with all of you over the next two years,” said Toole. Thank you very much. I can’t say that enough.”

NMOTC is part of a healthcare network of Navy medical professionals around the world whom provide high-quality healthcare to more than 1 million eligible beneficiaries. Navy Medicine personnel deploy with Sailors and Marines worldwide, providing critical mission support aboard ships, in the air, under the sea, and on the battlefield.
