FORT HOOD, Texas—Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center joined more than 20 various service organizations to provide Soldiers and their families a plethora of information at the deployment fair held here March 20-22 for 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division.
The 1st BCT is scheduled to deploy this spring and the three-day event was designed to help prepare the more than 3,000 Soldiers for deployment.
“This is the first time the unit has organized something like this. Rarely do you get all the agencies that support Soldiers and their families in one spot. Often Soldiers just don’t know where to go to get the information they need,” said Lt. Col. David Polizzotti, deputy commanding officer for the brigade. “So the intent was to get key service providers such as health care, behavioral health, finance and legal all together in one location so Soldiers and their families could meet face-to-face with representatives to gather whatever information they’re most interested in.”
