Camp Buehring, Kuwait – U.S. Army Pfc. Tyler J. Malone, a radio/communications security repairer is currently serving with Company I, 106th Support Battalion, 155th Armored Brigade Combat in support of Operation Spartan Shield.
As a radio/communications security repairer, Malone is tasked with the maintenance and repair of all radio systems assigned to his unit.
Malone, a native of Brookhaven, Mississippi, arrived in Kuwait in June 2018. This is his first deployment and he has served in the Mississippi Army National Guard for four years.
He has a wife, Hope, and one son, Axle; he keeps in touch with them by using social media apps on his phone.
“I stay in touch with my wife through WhatsApp and other family members through Facebook,” said Malone.
In addition to his day-to-day tasks, Malone finds time for himself.
“I occupy my downtime by playing video games with fellow soldiers along with going to the gym,” he said.
Going to the gym is more than just occupying his time, Malone has a goal in mind.
I want to at least make a 280 on my APFT so I supplement my morning PT to try to get a higher score said Malone.
Malone’s deployment will last from nine to 12 months. Once complete, he will return to his civilian job as a carpenter in Brookhaven.
