The 10th Mountain Division held a change of command ceremony for the 10th Mountain Division Sustainment Brigade July 25, 2018 at Magrath Sports Complex at Fort Drum, N.Y.
After two years in command, Col. Shawn C. Schuldt, the brigade commander, relinquished command to Col. Matthew S. Bresko who joins the brigade from the National War College in Washington, D.C.
"The sustainment brigade's ability to conduct challenging operations in complex environments far from the flag pole is a testament to the unit's leadership,” said Brig. Gen. Patrick Donahoe, 10th Mountain Division Deputy Commanding General.
Col. Bresko joined the Army in June of 1989 and spent nearly 10 years as an enlisted Soldier in the 75th Ranger Regiment, 6th Ranger Training Battalion and the 101st Airborne Division.
He attended Officer Candidate School and was commissioned as a second lieutenant of ordnance in September of 1998.
Col. Bresko’s deployments include Operation Just Cause, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He has also earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern New Hampshire University and Master of Arts degrees from the Naval War College and the Army War College.
Awards and decorations for Col. Bresko include the Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal, Expert Infantryman Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, Combat Action Badge, Master Parachutist Badge (with bronze combat jump star), and the Ranger Tab.
