Exercise Keris Strike 2018 will last from July 23 through Aug. 3, 2018, and is focused on improving cooperation between the U.S. and Malaysia, with a focus on bilateral disaster relief efforts.
In addition to disaster relief, Exercise Keris Strike 2018 contains a jungle field training exercise. During this event, U.S. and Malaysian soldiers will learn from each other to improve their effectiveness in a jungle environment. The training is also designed to increase mutual trust and respect between the U.S. and Malaysia.
Exercise Keris Strike 2018 pulls together elements from many different elements from the Malaysian and U.S. armed services. Elements from U.S. Army Indo-Pacific Command, U.S. Army Alaska, the Washington Army National Guard, and the U.S. Army Reserves are all present.
The ultimate goal of Exercise Keris Strike 2018 is to improve regional and global stability by improving U.S. and Malaysian effectiveness during peacekeeping and disaster relief operations.
