U.S. and Indian Air Force Airmen completed a Security Forces Subject Matter Expert Exchange (SMEE) July 23- 28, 2018 at Andersen Air Force Base, Guam.

Security Forces SMEEs are part of U.S. Indo-Pacific Command’s Theater Security Cooperation Program, a multi-national event hosted by Pacific Air Forces and the 736th Security Forces Squadron (SFS), to enhance strong interpersonal relationships and cooperation within the Indo-Pacific region.

The 736th SFS is an integral part of the multifaceted 36th Contingency Response Group, which is also comprised of the 36th Mobility Response Squadron, 554th RED HORSE Squadron and 644th Combat Communications Squadron.

“We really enjoy having our partner nations out here, talking about training and building relations,” said Master Sgt. Tyrone Yeargin, 36th Contingency Response Group (CRG) air advisor. “Our goal is to share ideas and what has worked for us and listen to what has worked for our allies so we can both grow our forces in the process.”

During the events, attendees shared force protection information and security tactics, techniques and procedures contributing to regional security.

“During the week we were able to showcase some of our capabilities that are specific to Guam and the 36th CRG,” Yeargin said. “It is important for us to come together and learn each other’s standard procedures so if we ever need to integrate with our Indian counterparts for security or humanitarian relief, we can make it run as smoothly as possible.”

During the SMEE, the attendees toured the Pacific Air Force Regional Training Facility with the 736th Commando Warrior flight and were able to experience how the 36th CRG is able to train over 1,500 Airmen on Guam annually.

These types of SMEEs are held throughout the year with experts from all around the Indo-Pacific region participating in an effort to continue building relations and promoting peace in the region.
