YAVORIV, Ukraine - Soldiers from the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment out of the Tennessee National Guard participate in the change of command ceremony here, Aug. 8.
The 27th IBCT transfers authority to the 278th ACR over the Joint Multinational Training Group - Ukraine. The 27th IBCT deployed to Yavoriv on November 2017.
The ceremony consisted of partnering nations at the combat training center from Canada, Poland, Lithuania and Ukraine. The distinguished guests in attendance include the Commander of the 7th Army Training Command, Brig. Gen. Christopher C. LaNeve, Governor Deputy of the Lviv Oblast, Mr. Rostyslav Zamlynskyi and representing the U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch, is Col. Thomas Wofford.
The ceremony included the transfer of colors and speeches from the outgoing JMTG-U commander, Col. Dennis Deeley and incoming JMTG-U commander, Col. Jimmie Cole.
“I would like to honor and celebrate the success of the 27th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, Task Force Orion and our friends, partners and allies that have worked to ensure the success of this critical mission”, said Cole.
JMTG-U is part of an ongoing effort in the development of the Yarvoriv Combat Training Center.
The JMTG-U hosts this years multinational training exercise, Rapid Trident this September.
