The Omaha VA Medical Center joined the rest of Veterans Affairs across the country in celebrating the birthday of the Veterans Canteen Service, August 7.
As with any birthday, guests were treated to the traditional cake with a side offering of punch.
This year, VCS also presented one lucky entry to a 'Lunch with VCS'. That special entry was submitted by Jim Weinbeign of Yutan, Neb.
According to their VA Portal, VCS operates over 200 Patriot Stores in Veterans Administration (VA) Medical Centers nationwide, many of which have been recently updated and expanded to provide customers with a modern, clean and comfortable shopping experience.
Patriot Stores have expanded hours of operation to provide service for customers on weekends at most locations.
Tom Ereth, Omaha VCS manager, supports and follows through with the mission of the overall VCS. "We want to provide reasonably priced merchandise and services which can provide comfort and enhance the well-being of our Veterans, their families, caregivers, VA employees, volunteers and visitors," Ereth said.
