NAVAL STATION GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba — Joint Detention Group Commander, Col. Stephen E. Gabavics was the guest speaker at the Women’s Mentorship Program meeting, June 19. He spoke on topics of personal strategies to maintain balance between personal and professional responsibilities; women who have made a positive impact on his life; and the importance of mentorship.
Gabavics emphasized not letting take-home work detract from time spent with family and friends.
“If I have work to take home, I don’t do it when everybody is awake,” he said. “Yes, that means adjusting my schedule, but you have to find that balance.”
The bi-monthly Women’s Mentorship Program meetings are coordinated by Joint Task Force Guantanamo volunteers. JTF Troopers also host Men’s Mentorship Program meetings.
