Brig. Gen. Gary L. Ebben, Wisconsin Deputy Adjutant General and Col. David W. May, Volk Field Commander, accompanied by other unit and state leadership visit Airmen with the 128th ACS during the Northern Lightning Counterland training exercise.
The purpose of the trip was to provide leadership greater understanding of the training and it was an opportunity to recognize top performing Airmen during the exercise.
The 128th ACS is supporting air communications during flying missions throughout Northern Lightning from their position in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan to simulate a deployed environment during the exercise.
"This trip was a great opportunity for our 128th ACS Airmen to showcase what capabilities we bring to the fight,” said Lt. Col. Michael J. Western, 128th ACS commander. “The maintenance team put a lot of hard work and preparation up front and having the WI ANG State Leadership team visit and recognize those efforts during exercise execution was rewarding for the entire deployed radar team.”
Northern Lightning is one of seven Air National Guard joint accredited exercises held at a Combat Readiness Training Center. The two-week long exercise’s purpose is to increase military readiness by providing participating units a tactical level, joint training environment emphasizing user-defined objectives.
