The 104th Logistics Readiness Squadron spent approximately two weeks training and exchanging best practices with their active duty counterparts at Spangdahlem Air Base, Germany. “This has been an invaluable opportunity for 104th Fighter Wing Airmen to train on things we typically do not see in the Logistics Readiness Squadron in the Air Guard such as shipping household goods,” said Chief Master Sgt. Tom Orifice.

After Airmen finish their technical school and return to their units with their three levels they then have to progress through their five level and subsequently seven levels.

“The two Airmen I have here just finished their 5 levels and this is giving them a chance to get their 7 level tasks checked off efficiently,” said Staff Sgt. Desiree Blake, NCOIC of TMO at the 104th Fighter Wing.

For most career fields their upgrade training includes both textbook style lessons and hands-on, on the job training, and sometimes further in residence formal training.

“The active-duty Airmen here have been eager to show us what they do and equally as curious about what we do,” said Blake.

Blake spent time with multiple active duty NCOs while at Spangdahlem to learn as much as possible in the approximately two-week timeframe.

“The 104th Airmen have been professional and eager to learn. It has given the airmen here a chance to step up and teach new people,” said Tech. Sgt. Lacey Marrocco, 52nd Logistics Readiness Squadron Section Chief of Personnel and Property.

Marrocco explained that both the Air National Guard and the Active Duty benefit from the time training together.

“Not only do we provide the training, but they also provide us knowledge on how their operations work at home station, it is a two-way street,” said Marrocco.
