Soldiers in the Regimental Support Squadron, 2d Cavalry Regiment participated in a team leader course at Rose Barracks, Germany, Aug. 20 – 25, 2018.The course was hosted in order to train and evaluate their ability to lead future Soldiers throughout 2CR and the U.S. Army. Soldiers underwent a series of briefs, and essential training built to empower them with tools to grow as a leader.
The team leader course allowed junior leaders to conduct a series of tasks to include land navigation, weapons training, troop leading procedures, drill and ceremony, radio communication, casualty evacuation operations and preventive maintenance checks and services. Soldiers were presented a series of briefs to outline the resources available throughout the installation. These briefs included Army Community Service, Army Emergency Relief and finance. RSS troop first sergeants also shared lessons learned, reviewed regulations, discipline and what it means to be a non-commissioned officer in the U.S. Army.
“The training provided tools that didn’t come from [the] Basic Leader’s Course like the Troop Leading Procedures, and how to access it so you know what to expect,” said Sgt. Christopher Wasden, welder, Bravo Troop, RSS, 2CR. “This will help with planning and preparing Soldiers. It was also nice to have a refresher of weapons, land navigation and drill and ceremony.
Upon completion of the team leader course, RSS, 2CR hosted an NCO Induction Ceremony on Rose Barracks, August 28. This ceremony followed the tradition of leaders before them, and highlighted what it means to be a NCO.
