Wiesbaden – This year 35 U.S. Army Europe Soldiers from Wiesbaden, Grafenwohr and Hohenfels decided to test their resiliency by taking part in the 102nd march.
Since 1916 the Dutch have hosted the Nijmegen Four Days March in July to promote physical fitness, team work and endurance. Participants must march 100 miles in four days, while carrying a 22 pound ruck sack (not including water), to receive the "Vierdaagse Nijmegen" 4 Day March Cross.
“The Nijmegen March was the most physically and mentally demanding event,” Said Sgt 1st Class Christopher Salles. “The team showed tremendous resiliency and heart to finish the grueling 100 miles. Teamwork, comradery and a positive attitude contributed greatly to the success of the team.”
This year the march ran from July 14th and ended on the 18th. American Soldiers marched with over five thousand service members from 27 countries. Military and civilians can already plan and train for the 103rd Nijmegen March in July 2019.
