Seventy-six Airmen from the 167th Airlift Wing, along with their families, attended a Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program event at the Holiday Inn conference center in Martinsburg, W.Va., Sep. 8.

The Airmen, representing 20 different career fields, recently returned from their deployments as part of the wing’s Reserve Component Period that started last fall.

An RCP is a specific timeframe during which the majority of a unit’s Airmen could potentially be tasked to deploy.

While deployed, the 167th’s Airmen supported operations Key Resolve, Freedom Sentinel, Resolute Support and Inherent Resolve, throughout the U.S. Central Command, U.S. Pacific Command, U.S. European Command and U.S. Africa Command.

“Our citizen Airmen supported numerous missions around the globe during their deployments and I couldn’t be more proud of the outstanding work they did taking care of our nation’s business,” said Col. David Cochran, 167th Airlift Wing commander.

Cochran said the deployed Airmen and their families made great sacrifices the last several months and hoped they would find the Yellow Ribbon Reintegration Program helpful as they transition back to civilian life. He also encouraged Airmen to share their stories with one another as part of the reintegration process.

According to the program’s website, the YRRP is a Department of Defense effort to promote the wellbeing of National Guard and Reserve members and their loved ones by connecting them with resources throughout the deployment cycle.

Informational sessions on mental health, healthcare, family programs, education, employment and financial and legal benefits were offered at the YRRP event.
