    AGUADILLA, Puerto Rico - U. S. Coast Guard Air Station Borinquen officers and chiefs joined U. S. Customs and Border Protection Ramey Sector Border Patrol agents and Ramey School students at the school flagpole Sept. 11, 2018, in a remembrance ceremony honoring the victims from the 9/11 terrorist attacks in 2001.

    During the ceremony, Coast Guard, CBP personnel and the students observed the Star-Spangled Banner and the Pledge of Allegiance of the United States.

    “The terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and the terrible loss of lives on that day, will always be fresh in our memories,” said Cmdr. Toby Holdridge, Air Station Borinquen executive officer. “We must continue to be vigilant against all threats to our way of life, to safeguard against those that wish to do harm, so we never experience another tragedy like that September morning 17 years ago.”

    Capt. Keith Overstreet, Air Station Borinquen's Commanding Officer, addressed the student body on the significance and importance of American values.

    The Ramey School is a Department of Defense Education Activity School for approximately 500 local active duty military and civilian federal employee dependents.

    Coast Guard Air Station Borinquen is located at Rafael Hernandez Airport in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico. With four assigned MH-65 helicopters, Air Station Borinquen supports a myriad of Coast Guard missions within the 1.3 million square mile Sector San Juan area or responsibility including Search and Rescue,: Law Enforcement, Aids to Navigation, and logistics support.
