Service members at Fort McCoy, Wis., for Exercise Turbo Distribution 18-02 move cargo at the Sparta-Fort McCoy Airport on Sept. 13, 2018, at Fort McCoy, Wis.
Airmen, Soldiers, and officials with the Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) were sent to Fort McCoy from Sept. 7 to 14 for the exercise -- a Joint Task Force-Port Opening simulation designed to hone joint service interoperability in austere locations for the purpose of opening airfields and forwarding the mobility-centric goals of the Army and Air Force.
Airmen with the 821st Contingency Response Group, 621st Contingency Response Wing, Soldiers assigned to the 688th Rapid Port Opening Element of Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Va., and DLA officials were deployed to the fictitious country of "Badgeristan" for the exercise, according to an Air Force Public Affairs specialist covering the training.
Fort McCoy has supported America’s armed forces since 1909.
The installation’s motto is to be the “Total Force Training Center.”
The post’s varied terrain, state-of-the-art ranges, new as well as renovated facilities, and extensive support infrastructure combine to provide military personnel with an environment in which to develop and sustain the skills necessary for mission success.
