    NAVAL STATION GUANTANAMO BAY, Cuba – Navy Rear Adm. John C. Ring, Commander, Joint Task Force Guantanamo, offered his condolences following the death of Army Pfc. Matthew Cox.

    “Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Pfc. Matthew Cox, who was a valued member of our team and whose absence is being felt throughout Joint Task Force Guantanamo. Pfc. Cox volunteered to serve our country during a time of war demonstrating the highest commitment to our nation's values.”

    Army Col. Steven Yamashita, Commander, Joint Detention Group, shared his thoughts as well.

    “Our sincere condolences go out to the parents of Pfc. Cox as they mourn the loss of their son. It is a privilege to serve with all of the young men & women of the Joint Detention Group and the loss of Pfc. Matthew Cox is significant, and felt at every level of this organization. We remain committed to our mission here while remembering all those who have contributed.”
