The 10th Mountain Division (LI) Sustainment Brigade celebrated the leadership of outgoing Command Sgt. Major Octavia Greaves-Egyinam and welcomed incoming Command Sgt. Maj. Roy L. Young during a Change of Command Ceremony at Fort Drum's Wheeler-Sack Army Airfield on Friday, October 19.

Greaves-Egyinam took responsibility as senior non-commissioned officer of the brigade in November, 2016, and has overseen a multitude of training exercises and unit deployments, including a sea emergency deployment readiness exercise and multiple rapid deployments in support of hurricane relief.

"The 10th Mountain Division Sustainment Brigade is better today because of your leadership," said Brigade Commander Matthew Bresko of Greaves-Egyinam. "I have learned more from you about humble leadership, and about being a Soldier's Soldier than I previously thought possible."

"And in appropriate Army fashion," he added, "as we say goodbye to one great Army and family, we welcome another."

Bresko officially welcomed Young to the position of Command Sergeant Major, noting that Young is no stranger to the 10th Mountain Division or the Sustainment Brigade, where he served in an operations capacity before his most recent assignment.

Both outgoing and incoming leaders shared expressions of gratitude with the brigade.

"I come from rock bottom," said Greaves-Egyinam, "But for my last assignment, I got orders to come to upstate New York, to a place called Fort Drum, where every time you come through the gate, the soldier guard says 'Climb to Glory,' and the response is 'To the Top.'"

"It has been an honor and a privilege to serve here in the 10th Mountain Division," she said.
Greaves-Egyinam will retire later this month after three decades of service to the United States Army.

Young also addressed the commander and the formation as he assumed responsibility for the brigade.

"Col. Bresko, I accept my responsibilities as Command Sergeant Major with enthusiasm and honor, and I'm looking forward to Supporting the Climb with this great Muleskinner team as we continue in our leadership."

"And to the non-commissioned officers, officers, and Soldiers of 10th Mountain Division Sustainment Brigade, I look forward to working with each and every one of you."
