The new and improved Eagles Landing is scheduled to have its grand re-opening Nov. 29. The renovation project has seen the building gutted and overhauled, and brings lots of new and improved items to the Airmen of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base.
The building received a new roof, exterior brick work, and blast-resistant windows and doors for additional safety and security. The kitchen was replaced with a streamlined caterer’s kitchen, which includes an updated fire suppression system, new heating, ventilation, and air conditioning, new flooring, wall covering, ceiling grids and tiles, and a new First Sergeants’ pantry.
“There is new furniture in the lobby, Eagles Nest, and the Mustang Taproom,” said Bridget Sleppy, 4th Forces Support Squadron community programs and partnership specialist. “We have a new air hockey table, ping pong table and arcade game in the Eagles Nest.”
Along with some new additions to the Eagles Nest, the Mustang Taproom has a redesigned bar, updated outdoor seating area, sound system and television setup.
“The taproom will also have a new pool table, foosball table and shuffleboard table,” said Ryan Wurdinger, 4th FSS bar manager.
According to Sleppy, extensive work was done to update the look and feel, both inside and out, to modernize the building.
The ultimate goal of the renovations is to provide Airmen with an entertainment venue to improve quality of life and morale, enhance social networking and cohesion amongst the enlisted tier.
