During 2015 at Fort McCoy, Wis., Several units conducted training that included use of UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters.

In October 2015, Army aviation crews with the 1st Battalion, 147th Aviation Regiment of the Wisconsin Army National Guard at Madison maneuvered Black Hawk helicopters equipped with a dipping bucket over Big Sandy Lake on Fort McCoy’s South Post.

Two Black Hawks were used in the bucket training, which provides the aviation crews experience to help battle wildfires if called upon by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

In June 2015, Black Hawk helicopters from Army Reserve and National Guard were used to support operations at the installation, including for the Combat Support Training Exercise, the Global Medic Exercise, and units participating in extended-combat training.

Located in the heart of the upper Midwest, Fort McCoy is the only U.S. Army installation in Wisconsin. The installation has provided support and facilities for the field and classroom training of more than 100,000 military personnel from all services each year since 1984.
