U.S. Air Force Maj. Gen. Sam Barrett, Air Mobility Command 18th Air Force commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Todd Petzel, AMC 18th AF command chief, toured multiple AMC units here, November 14th-16th.
Barrett and Petzel toured the Joint Base to understand the contribution each unit makes to AMC’s mission and to hear issues they might be having with anything Air Force related or regarding their workflow.
“The only thing that I do that really matters, is to make sure that I remove obstacles and help you accomplish the mission,” said Barrett.
The pair toured many units on the Joint Base, highlighting the Innovation lab which provides the opportunity for members on base to share ideas and collaborate to make a vision a reality.
Petzel said his favorite part was the 3-D printer because of its capabilities to print almost anything it’s programmed to from the programming application in their computers.
“This is a great place to open the minds of the older generations from the innovative and tech-savvy minds of the younger generations. [The Innovation Lab] is a great learning tool for all Airmen of all ages and rank,” said Barrett.
The tour ended with a Thanksgiving feast hosted by the 2nd Airlift Squadron and their families. Barrett and Petzel talked to the attendees about the importance of the Airmen in the squadron and the support their family gives them.
“What an honor and privilege it is to serve each and every one of you; our great Airmen in the Air Force,” said Barrett. “You are the nation’s best, and we are so grateful to have you on this team.”
