WASHINGTON (NNS) – Rear Adm. Michael Brookes, deputy commander, U.S. 10th Fleet (C10F), participated in the senior service panel during the Association of Old Crows 55th International Symposium and Convention at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center, Nov. 29.
The panel was moderated by retired Lt. Gen. Robert Elder, strategy and technology advisor, Georgia Tech Research Institute, and featured three other senior leaders from the other military services who joined Brookes: U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Michael S. Groen, director for Intelligence, Joint Staff; U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. David Gaedecke, director, Cyberspace Operations and Warfighting Integration Office of Information Dominance; and U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Jennifer G. Buckner, director of Cyber, (G3/5/7).
The discussion was focused on the services’ approach to electromagnetic spectrum superiority and integration of electronic warfare, cyber and intelligence capabilities to ensure spectrum superiority against peer competitors.
“As the deputy commander, C10F, and former information warfare commander aboard the USS Carl Vinson, I've experienced first-hand the importance and intersection of electronic warfare with other warfighting domains such as cyber and space,” said Brookes. “Addressing the challenges and opportunities in the development of electromagnetic maneuver warfare will require agile collaboration across government, industry, and academia.”
The Association of Old Crows is an organization for individuals who have common interests in electronic warfare, electromagnetic spectrum management operations, cyber electromagnetic activities, information operations, and other information related capabilities.
Since its establishment, FCC/C10F has grown into an operational force composed of more than 14,000 Active and Reserve Sailors and civilians organized into 28 active commands, 40 Cyber Mission Force units, and 26 reserve commands around the globe. FCC serves as the Navy component command to U.S. Strategic Command and U.S. Cyber Command, and the Navy's Service Cryptologic Component commander under the National Security Agency/Central Security Service. C10F, the operational arm of FCC, executes its mission through a task force structure similar to other warfare commanders. In this role, C10F provides support of Navy and joint missions in cyber/networks, cryptologic/signals intelligence and space.
