Soldiers from America's First Corps came together at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii for the I Corps, 2-Gun sharpshooter competition, hosted by 25th Infantry Division. Teams from across the Pacific represented units from 25th Infantry Division, 7th Infantry Division, 593rd Expeditionary Sustainment Command, U.S. Army Alaska, 17th Field Artillery Brigade, 42nd Military Police Brigade, 555 Engineer Brigade.
Ten, five-Soldier teams assigned to multiple units competed in six stages of competition over two days with U.S. Army issued weapons for top sharpshooter honors.
The competition not only emphasizes readiness across the Corps, but will serve as practice for the teams that will compete at the U.S. Army Marksmanship competition at Fort Benning next year.
Day one of the America's First Corps 2-Gun Sharpshooter Competition consisted of the Physical Training Event with an unknown distance run and six mystery events along the route. The second half of day one consisted of ranges where competitors zeroed their rifles, held pistol and rifle qualification, and an unknown distance shoot.
