167th Airlift Wing, West Virginia Air National Guard

Airman 1st Class Johnathon Dorman enlisted into the 167th Airlift Wing in 2017. He serves as a command and control specialist for the wing’s command post, the central command point for mission operations.
Dorman said his job is important because he helps collect and disseminate information across the base and provides mission support during standard and emergency operations.
“He has shown on multiple occasions that he is willing to go above and beyond to complete the mission. This includes the activation of LNO’s during Hurricane Florence and the establishment of Task Force Martinsburg,” said Tech. Sgt. Joshua Robins, non-commissioned officer in charge of 167th AW command and control operations.
Dorman continually looks for ways to expand his knowledge and experience in his career field, according to Robins.
“He goes out of his way to create his own training scenarios and asks his supervision to critique his work,” Robins said. “A1C Dorman is also an excellent example for younger Airmen entering our unit.”
Dorman is working towards a degree at Shepherd University. He hopes to earn a commission in the future and eventually work in the Pentagon.
“The Air Force has been extremely rewarding and I hope to make an accomplished career out of it,” Dorman said.
His hobbies include golf, watching movies and TV and traveling.
Dorman said people may be surprised to know that moose are his favorite animal.
