DCMA Dallas stars in capabilities model video

    Story by Thomas Perry

    Defense Contract Management Agency

The Defense Contract Management Agency Dallas team has successfully embraced the agency’s Business Capabilities Framework in its pursuit to deliver warfighter products that meet readiness and lethality standards.

The framework, or business model, contains 11 capability boards within three overarching capabilities — primary, integrating and enabling. Contract Closeout aligns to the Primary Capability of Contract Maintenance and consists of the processes, tasks and activities designed to accomplish contract closeout.

This closing step is key to DCMA’s budget discipline goals as every contract closed saves the government time and money. It is within this area the Dallas team found great success.

In 2017-2018, its administrative contracting officer closed 70 contracts from a local contractor for a total dollar amount of $376,714,706.98 and total unliquidated obligated amount de-obligated of $41,576,835.44.

In addition to saving $41 million, 43 of the contracts would have reached over-age status in 2017 and negatively impacted Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness and metrics compliance.

Hoping other agency personnel could benefit from their story, the Dallas produced a video highlighting their program as well as the Business Capabilities Framework.

“I would like to offer my most sincere appreciation to the DCMA Dallas Contract’s Team for their work during the production of this video,” said Army Col. Lamont Hall, the DCMA Dallas commander, who was proud of his team’s closeout performance as well as their video production assistance. “Their passion to tell the Contract Closeout story and how it meets the goals of the agency’s capabilities model led to this achievement. In particular, Sujata Wadhwani, for her work in script and concept development. Without a tremendous effort from the entire team, this would not have been possible. I thank you all.”
