Chief Warrant Officer 2 Samuel B. McKamey was recognized as the top warrant officer in the U.S. Army Forces Command’s Gen. Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award assessment, Nov. 30, at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

The Cloverdale, Indiana, native is an aviation warrant assigned to the 177th Armored Brigade, First Army Division East, First Army, and serves as the brigade’s only aviation Observer, Coach/Trainer.

CW2 McKamey successfully outperformed four of his peer finalists in the week-long assessment earning him a place in the Headquarters Department of the Army final assessment this spring.

The Gen. Douglas MacArthur Leadership Award recognizes company grade officers who demonstrate the ideals for which MacArthur stood – duty, honor, and country. It promotes and sustains effective junior officer leadership in the Army and is open to second lieutenants through captains and warrant officers through chief warrant officers 2.

Jack E. Vantress, commander, 177th Armored Brigade. “He brings an unparalleled wealth of knowledge, experience and passion to our team and our Army Reserve and National Guard partners.”
