JOINT BASE LANGLEY-EUSTIS, Va. -- A new commander assumes command of the 192nd Medical Group, Detachment 1, during an assumption of command ceremony August 5, 2018, at Joint Base Langley-Eustis.
Col. Jason Price, 192nd MDG commander, marked the ceremonial transfer of responsibility by passing the MDG guidon to Lt. Col. Cheryl Stacklin, the incoming detachment commander.
The primary responsibility of the 192nd MDG, Detachment 1, is CERFP which is the National Guard Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and High Yield Explosive (CBRNE) Enhanced Response Force Package. The CERFP is unique in that it is a task force that includes elements from different National Guard units rather than one specific unit. There are currently 27 CERFP teams available nationwide with three serving the Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Virginia region.
“The leadership qualities that Cheryl exhibits are exactly what this detachment needs,” said Price. “[She] literally wrote the book on CERFP and supervised technicians in all 27 teams…”
Stacklin was previously the Director of Air Strategic Plans and Policy for the Virginia Air National Guard at Joint Force Headquarters in Sandston.
“It is not an easy job to follow the stellar performance of my predecessor, Lt. Col. Robyn Caudle,” said Stacklin. “I am truly blessed to be leading such knowledgeable, dedicated and selfless men and women, and I look forward to taking the [detachment] to the next level.”
Caudle, who attended the ceremony, is currently the 920th Aerospace Medicine Squadron commander. The 920th AMDS is a geographically separated Air Force Reserve unit stationed at JBLE and is part of the 920th Rescue Wing from Patrick Air Force Base, Florida.
“My time spent on the CERFP team was the most memorable of my military career. The skill and motivation of the medical element is unbeatable,” said Caudle. “Lt. Col. Stacklin is well versed in the CBRNE environment and will do an excellent job as the next [detachment] 1 commander.”
The CERFP provides immediate response upon order by the governor during CBRNE incidents or other catastrophic events assisting local, state and federal agencies by performing medical triage, giving emergency medical treatment and providing medical support to casualty contamination and war zone medical support to search and extraction.
