YAVORIV, Ukraine- Soldiers from the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment deployed to Ukraine, with Ukrainian Marines led a two-day land navigation course with children in the Boys and Girls Scouts, here, Dec. 9.
The course was named, “Operation Pathfinder” and the U.S. troops taught the basics of map reading, compass reading and plotting points on a map. The boys and girls then used what they learned and completed a full day of land navigation in the local area.
“It has been our honor and pleasure to work with you, and we have seen a good teamwork and we are looking forward to continuing working with you all,” stated Sgt. 1st Class Nick Carter.
This is the first time U.S. troops worked alongside Ukrainian Marines and hosted this course for the Boys and Girls Scouts.
Soldiers from the 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment from the Tennessee National Guard are deployed to Ukraine in support of developing their combat training center.
