MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (NNS) – Naval Supply System Command’s (NAVSUP) best story, photo and video of 2018 highlight the global enterprise’s support to the fleet.

As NAVSUP personnel work to provide supplies, services, and quality-of-life support to the Navy and Joint warfighter our public affairs professionals are reporting on the wide range of tasks and challenge our men and women tackle around the world throughout the year.

“We have some great NAVSUP stories to tell,” said Janice Derk, NAVSUP’s Office of Corporate Communications (OCC) Director. “These articles, photos and videos highlight the good work our people do for our customers, while also demonstrating how we work to ensure taxpayers know the Navy is judiciously spending their tax dollars. I am proud to share our communicators’ best work.”

The 2018 winning article, photo and video were chosen by the corporate communication and public affairs staffs at NAVSUP Enterprise commands around the globe. They were judged on how well they (1) engaged audiences, (2) demonstrated NAVSUP being ready, resourceful, and responsive, and (3) showcased NAVSUP’s positive work environment.

The wining article is "NAVSUP FLC San Diego MHE Team Keeps Fleet Materials Moving" published May 7 by Candice Villarreal, NAVSUP Fleet Logistics Center (FLC) San Diego Director of Corporate Communications. Villarreal reported on FLC San Diego's 10-person Material Handling Equipment (MHE) team that works side-by-side with fleet Sailors from 45 afloat customers and a handful of shore commands aboard Naval Base Coronado to ensure their equipment is in prime condition. The MHE team assists NAVSUP Weapon Systems Support (WSS) to identify equipment requirements, issue new or overhauled MHE, maintain the NAVSUP WSS-owned pool of MHE inventory to service their customers' needs, identify sources for maintenance and repair when needed, and teach fleet Sailors firsthand and in-person how to maintain and repair their equipment while deployed around the globe.
