Some members of the Fort McCoy Better Opportunities for Single Soldiers (BOSS) organization assisted in unloading Christmas trees Dec. 6, 2018, for the 2018 Trees for Troops delivery at Fort McCoy, Wis., housing on South Post.
The mission of the BOSS program is to enhance the morale and welfare of single Soldiers, increase retention and sustain combat readiness.
The BOSS program is facilitated through its three core components aimed at maintaining a balanced life: leisure and recreation, community service, and quality of life.
BOSS affords Soldiers the opportunity to assist in planning and execution of recreational activities for single Soldiers and provides direction for Soldiers interested in performing military and civilian community service-related projects.
Community service projects provide Soldiers valuable experience, skills and a sense of community pride and ownership.
Located in the heart of the upper Midwest, Fort McCoy is the only U.S. Army installation in Wisconsin. The installation has provided support and facilities for the field and classroom training of more than 100,000 military personnel from all services each year since 1984.
