Brig. Gen. Paul J. Rock Jr., commanding general of Marine Corps Installations Pacific, opened the first Expeditionary Barracks Jan.17 at Camp Mujuk in Pohang, Republic of Korea.

Camp Mujuk plays a pivotal role in MCIPAC's mission to provide the Marine Corps with a forward-based platform for vital training, troop readiness, and force projection while also fostering critical partnerships in the Indo-Pacific region.

“As more barracks like this one are completed, lodging capacity and conditions will improve, directly impacting our ability to meet our mission and to support our Korean allies in bilateral training opportunities,” said Rock.

ROK Government representatives were able to participate in the opening of the new barracks and tour the new facility.

“As the only United States Marine Corps Installation in South Korea, Camp Mujuk plays an important role in promoting regional peace and security and upholding the United States Marine Corps’ commitment to the alliance” said Rock. “This project is visible evidence of everyone’s commitment to the alliance.”
