Mr. Concetto Perticone, an antenna mechanic with Naval Computer Telecommunications Station (NCTS) Sicily working at Naval Radio Transmitter Facility (NRTF) Niscemi, was thanked for 27 years of faithful service at a ceremony held at the facility on the occasion of his retirement Dec. 31, 2018.

Perticone, a native Sicilian, joined the newly established NRTF Niscemi in October, 1991 where he became responsible for maintaining 22 high frequency transmitters and the 853-foot-tall low frequency transmitter that sits on a large plateau in the south-central part of Sicily.

“Dedication and service. These are the attributes that have been exemplified throughout Mr. Perticone’s entire career,” said LT Ron Fall, NRTF officer in charge, NCTS Sicily. “We are grateful for his professionalism and expertise over the years and wish him ‘fair winds and following seas’ on his well-earned retirement.”

Mr. Perticone maintained the site and equipment at the NRTF, which has supported countless Navy, Joint, and Allied force operations in the Mediterranean, Southwest Asia, Indian Ocean, and Atlantic Ocean. He also volunteered every year to support the annual Ponte Dirillo ceremony in remembrance of the lives lost at site during Operation Husky in the summer of 1943. Of his own accord, Mr. Perticone made sure that wreaths were provided for the Ponte Dirillo site every year.
For his retirement, he will be enjoying spending time with his wife and son and taking leisure rides on his motorcycle.

NCTS Sicily reports to U.S. Fleet Cyber Command, the Navy component command to U.S. Strategic Command and U.S. Cyber Command, to provide secure and reliable telecommunications in EUCOM, AFRICOM, and CENTCOM theaters of operation. The command represents a long history of superior command and control to a vital region of the world.
U.S. Fleet Cyber Command serves as the Navy component command to U.S. Strategic Command and U.S. Cyber Command, and the Navy’s Service Cryptologic Component commander under the National Security Agency/Central Security Service. Fleet Cyber Command also reports directly to the Chief of Naval Operations as an Echelon II command.

U.S. 10th Fleet is the operational arm of Fleet Cyber Command and executes its mission through a task force structure similar to other warfare commanders. In this role, C10F provides operational direction through its Maritime Operations Center located at Fort George Meade Md., executing command and control over assigned forces in support of Navy or joint missions in cyber/networks, information operations, electronic warfare, cryptologic/signals intelligence and space.
