WIESBADEN, Germany - U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Christopher Eubank, the Chief of Signal and Signal School Commandant, spoke with Team Signal Soldiers and Civilians at a town hall meeting, Feb. 5, 2019, in Wiesbaden.
Eubank presented an overview of the 58,000-person strong Signal Regiment, and outlined current and upcoming changes to training and infrastructure at the Signal School at Fort Gordon, Georgia. He said the Signal School and its extension campuses teach about 1,500 classes in 123 courses to 21,500 students per year.
“We’re building leaders, teammates and communicators,” Eubank said.
One of the recently implemented changes to training he outlined is “Foundation Training” where all Signal Soldiers receive the same baseline training before receiving specialized military occupational specialty (MOS) training. Foundation Training requires students to set up network systems in a classroom and field environment through multiple scenario-based, hands-on exercises.
“We’re going to have multidiscipline Signal Soldiers that provide services to the customer every day,” Eubank said.
He also spoke about ongoing plans for enlisted MOS convergence, which would reduce the total number of Signal MOSs initially from 17 to 13, then later down to 10, beginning around 2022.
“We have to streamline how we do business,” Eubank said.
He concluded with an overview of Signal training strategy, which is currently under review and should be published later this year.
