The United States Air Forces in Europe – Air Forces Africa Inspector General team will visit RAF Mildenhall, Feb. 4 - 8, to evaluate the 100th Air Refueling Wing.
During a unit effectiveness inspection they will grade the wing in four major areas: managing resources, leading people, improving the unit, and executing the mission. Installations are graded on a four-tier scale: highly effective, effective, marginally effective and ineffective.
During their four-day visit, inspectors will visit work areas in the wing and conduct confidential interviews with randomly selected Airmen.
The Unit Effectiveness Inspection serves to validate and verify the wing commander’s inspection program for accuracy, adequacy, process improvement efforts and the wing’s ability to execute the mission. The inspection will focus on helping the wing commander identify areas where the risks from undetected non-compliance are greatest.
Team Mildenhall has been in constant preparation for the UEI with the inspector general team’s base evaluations, exercises and commander inspection programs.
“The UEI is a chance to showcase what we do as the only Air Refueling Wing in USAFE-AFARICA,” said Maj. Michael Harrison, 100th ARW Inspector General director of inspections. “We’re excited for Team Mildenhall and proud of what we do, day in and day out!”
The UEI integrates elements of compliance and readiness to create a comprehensive assessment of unit effectiveness. The UEI is a “photo album” instead of a “snapshot” of a unit’s performance and capabilities over the UEI period.
“We as the IG are the coaches for Team Mildenhall and the UEI is our Super Bowl, and we’re sure we will finish with a ring,” said Senior Master Sgt. Misty Williston, 100th ARW Inspector General superintendent.
