Stewart Air National Guard Base, N.Y. (Feb. 10, 2019) - Twenty Airmen assigned to the 105th Airlift Wing graduated from the Community College of the Air Force, Dec. 1st, 2018 at Stewart Air National Guard Base, Newburgh NY.
The ceremony was presided over by Capt. Jason Nordlund who spoke about the importance of enrolling in the CCAF program.
“It represents an amalgamation of three equal parts,” said Nordlund “technical, liberal and professional military education.”
The 20 Airmen worked hard and made time to study and earned their degrees in various fields.
The hard work that the Airmen put in for their degrees, many while working and progressing in their technical training, was felt by Staff Sgt. Lacey Kehlenbeck and Staff Sgt. Sinead Kirnan.
“A lot of it is time management,” said Kirnan “just making sure you schedule time to study and take care of daily life.”
The CCAF started in the early 1970s as a way to gain accreditation and recognition for training by the Air Force.
The Air Force recognized the need for getting non-commissioned officers training to continue to develop their skills as leaders, technicians and civilians.
The college awards over 22,000 associate in applied science degrees from 71 degree programs annually.
