MESA, AZ– Soldiers with the 653rd Readiness Support Group and their families participated in a dining out event at ASU Old Main, Tempe, Arizona, on Feb. 09, 2019.
The event allowed for Soldiers and their families to meet RSG leaders, said CPT John A. Brimley, Headquarters and Headquarters Company Commander, 653rd RSG.
“We saw this as an opportunity to bring Soldiers together to observe military customs and courtesies in a way that is building esprit de corps and comradery,” said Brimley.
The 653rd also invited Tempe Chief of Police Sylvia M. Moir, who spoke to Soldiers about the importance of leadership and the sacrifice that those in the uniformed services make.
“We are the leaders who operate in the ambiguous and unpredictable environments,” said Moir. “We are the people who serve in the dichotomies of leadership everywhere.”
Moir continued to talk about the importance of service and what it takes to serve.
“You don’t have to know the law of thermodynamics to serve,” said Moir. “All you need to serve is a heart full of grace and a soul generated by love for something bigger then yourself, and that is why we are here!”
The 653rd mission statement is to provide Command and Control of assigned personnel and manage training, administrative and logistical support to the Group.
The 653rd RSG is currently preparing for a mobilization starting in March.
