Memphis, Tenn. – The 164th Airlift Wing will be supporting an Aeromedical Evacuation (AE) mission at Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany.
AE missions are responsible for providing time sensitive, mission critical en route care to patients to and from medical treatment facilities.
The 164 AW is currently in the process of trying to acquire an AE mission that would provide more than 90 military positons to the Memphis community. Having an AE mission would provide many opportunities to the community because of the vast amount of medical facilities and associated medical staff in the local area.
“It’s extremely vital to any operation,” said 1st Lt. Colin Chessor, a C-17 Globe Master III pilot with the 164 AW. “Getting our troops and our allies to a higher level of care in a timely manner could be the matter of life or death.”
Media are advised to contact the 164th Airlift Wing Public Affairs Office by 4:00 p.m. Monday Feb. 18 if they want to cover the media event on Tuesday Feb. 19.
