Fort McCoy will conduct an integrated protection exercise, Vigilant Triad 2019, from March 18-21.

The Vigilant Triad 2019 exercise scenario involves a simulated hazardous materials event.

The event will trigger mass notifications to the Fort McCoy community, as well as response and recovery activities by both garrison and tenant organizations on post.

At the start of the exercise, personnel on Fort McCoy should anticipate hearing and/or receiving warnings and alerts through various mass-notification systems, such as Giant Voice, AtHOC, and email.

All organizations and personnel should react accordingly when receiving these notifications based on their building’s Emergency Action Plan.

During response and recovery, personnel, families, and visitors on the installation may experience delays or may be required to take alternate routes because of the simulated emergency responses.

As always, personnel are reminded to use caution when driving. Watch for traffic, especially emergency vehicles, and be sure to yield the right or way to any emergency vehicles using lights and sirens.

Located in the heart of the upper Midwest, Fort McCoy is the only U.S. Army installation in Wisconsin. The installation has provided support and facilities for the field and classroom training of more than 100,000 military personnel from all services each year since 1984.
