HONOLULU — The Coast Guard thanked organizations and members of the community for their recent support of the service in an event in early February.

Rear Adm. Kevin Lunday, Commander, Coast Guard 14th District, was joined by Congressman Ed Case at Coast Guard Base Honolulu as they recognized representatives from other military branches, the Hawaii Food Bank, The Armed Services YMCA, Navy League, Red Cross, Coast Guard Spouses Association, Chief Warrant Officer Association, and Chief Petty Officers Association. These were only a few of the many who supported our Coast Guard crews and families.

“The men and women of the U.S. Coast Guard 14th District and their families are humbled by and are grateful for the outpouring of support from across the State of Hawaii to American Samoa, Guam, the Commonwealth of the Northern Marina Islands (CNMI), Japan, and Singapore. The generosity and compassion you’ve shown are overwhelming. We are privileged to live and serve in such supportive communities. To everyone who reached out to a Coast Guard employee or their families, thank you so much for all that you have done. We continue to stand the watch: ready, relevant and responsive,” said Lunday.

More than 1,000 Coast Guard employees live and serve in the Coast Guard 14th District area of responsibility which extends from Hawaii to Japan, including Guam and the CNMI and south to American Samoa. The Coast Guard, the only one of the five military services outside the Department of Defense, conducts operations to ensure U.S. national security and a free and open Indo-Pacific.

Congressman Case offered his thanks with Lunday, “The United States Coast Guard has not only fulfilled its mission with great distraction throughout its history but has consistently demonstrated one of the best returns on investment of precious taxpayer dollars in all of the federal government. The men and women of the Coast Guard and their families and communities deserve not only our gratitude but our continued support. Semper Paratus!"
