    QUICK SKETCH:
-- Earned the titles of 2019 Best Warrior and Soldier of the Year for 780th Military Intelligence Brigade (Cyber)
-- Fluent in Levantine Arabic and Swahili
-- Army Combatives Level I certified

-- Has a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics from the University of Washington and a master’s degree in Law from Wake Forest University

ON WHY SHE JOINED THE ARMY AND BECAME A LINGUIST:
“I joined the Army to expand my skill set and to grow as an individual. I was attracted to a career which would challenge me physically and mentally, as well as allow me to be in a public service role. I wanted to learn a new language and culture and apply the skills learned from my educational background.”

ON HER SHORT- AND LONG-TERM GOALS:
“Near term, I aim to complete the course required to become qualified in my work role, and improve my linguistics proficiency in Levantine Arabic. I also want to go back to school and do a master’s in Computational Linguistics.”

ON WHY SHE COMPETED IN 780TH MI BRIGADE’S BEST WARRIOR COMPETITION:
“To be a Best Warrior means that I have successfully demonstrated the excellence of those around me. I am proud to be able to represent my command in the Best Warrior Competition. I want to reflect the high level of knowledge and skill present in my command. Many of those whom I work with are exceptional Soldiers who have imparted their experience and high-level work ethic on me. I attribute the vast majority of what I know to those around me. I have been inspired by the Soldiers around me and they have given me the motivation to compete to the best of my ability in the competition.”

    ON WHO INSPIRES HER:
“I am inspired by Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg, who has advocated for women’s rights throughout her legal career. She inspires me because she has personally faced gender discrimination and tirelessly worked to overcome that discrimination. She demonstrates a high level of ambition, which motivates me to follow in her footsteps and challenge societal notions which I believe to be wrong or hurtful towards members of our society.”
