U.S Marines with 2nd Tank Battalion, 2nd Marine Division spent a portion of their day with 50 Woodstock High School Navy and Air Force Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps Cadets to give them an understanding about life as Marine Tankers at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, March 11, 2019.
During their visit with 2nd Tanks, the cadets were shown how to operate the M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tank, the Medium Tactical Vehicle Replacement, and the M777A2 Lightweight Howitzer.
The JROTC program instills values of citizenship, service to the United States, personal responsibility, and a sense of accomplishment in high school students who are interested in a military career. Events like this allow the Marines of 2d MarDiv to interact with the surrounding community while educating young Americans about the Marine Corps.
