Cadets from the Royal Canadian Army and Air Squadron visited Fort Drum, New York March 13th through March 15th, 2019. The Cadets were at Fort Drum to learn about the U.S Army, and to gain an understanding of military life from a Soldier's perspective. During their three day stay the Cadets participated in weapons simulation training, flight simulations, and visited the 10th Mountain Division Museum.

According to Cadets, the event with the biggest impact was meeting Maj. Gen. Walter E. Piatt, Commander of 10th Mountain Division and Fort Drum.

Army Cadet Drake Matthews Senecal said, “what really touched me was when Maj. Gen. Piatt said everyone fails, but it's what you do after that matters. Hearing it from him, with real examples, shows what matters and what's important.”

    Other cadets shared similar sentiments.

“Maj. Gen. Piatt’s speech on leadership was really inspiring. His outlook on leading are lessons I will hold onto for a long time,” said Air Cadet TJ Hanley.

The 709 Army Cadet Corps and 700 Air Cadet Squadron conducted joint exercises, concluding their training with a greater understanding of U.S. military operations and military life before returning to Canada.
